AWKUM Timergara Campus organized a Seminar on “Scope of Tourism in Dir Lower”
An exciting and meaningful seminar was held on 25/04/2018 at
Timergara Campus, AWKUM. The seminar was themed as ‘The Scope of Tourism in Dir
Lower’ and was a joint venture of Pak Army and Timergara Campus, AWKUM. A
throng of dignitaries, government officials and local residents attended the
event with zeal and zest. The seminar began with a welcome note by Mr. Minhaj-ud-Din,
Coordinator Timergara Campus, who welcomed all the guests who had come to
attend the activity. He mentioned the necessity of such events which play an
integral role in community mobilization and mass awareness regarding the issues
of vital interest.
On this occasion, the speakers stressed the importance of tourism
in an area which has so continuously suffered at the hands of terrorist. Dr.
Qadir Bakhsh Baloch, Director IBL, AWKUM, highlighted the importance of tourism
in the economy of a nation and provided enlightening insights on the potential
growth of tourism in Dir. Samar khan, world famous cyclist, also a resident of
Dir, was another speaker. She pointed out practical guide lines for the
promotion of tourism in her speech. Mr. Ijaz Khan, Curator Museum, AWKUM,
graced the occasion with his meaningful suggestions on the improvement of
tourism and its importance in the well being of the residents of a locality.
Mr. Hayatullah, General Manager, Tourism Department KPK, and Mr. Shahbaz Khan, Deputy
Director Culture & Tourism KPK, also addressed the audience and gave
meaningful suggestions on the promotion of tourism in Dir lower. Lastly, the
commandant DTF, Col Shahzad Amir, in his
final remarks, thanked the coordinator and faculty for their cooperation and
support which made the whole venture a success.
At the end, all guests visited and appreciated different stalls
which had been arranged for the promotion of cultural and social image of the
vicinity.
Two Days Capacity Building Training on Strategic Vision
The Department
of Sociology organized a two days capacity building training on strategic
vision in collaboration with Office
of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORICs) Abdul Wali Khan
University Mardan (AWKUM) at Main Campus. The training was delivered by Dr.
Abdullah (Master Trainer)/Assistant Professor University of Swat
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. In start of the training it was highlighted that identifying a clear and meaningful vision is critical towards
personal and organizational success and excellence. A life without a clear
vision is a life without a direction, a life full of confusions and
contradictions. This training was designed to give the participants the
fundamental paradigms, tools and the language to address this complex yet
important subject. This training not only empowered the participants to
envision but also set the ground for making their vision a reality both on a
personal and organizational level. In training both the faculty and students of
this department actively participated and developed their individual and
organizational framework based on strategic vision. In his closing remarks Dr.
Syed Rashid Ali Chairperson of this department shared his views that we need to
spread the knowledge learned in this training to our other colleagues as well
as he announced that organizers will now conduct the same training with the
rest of students in this department in coming days. At the end certificate distribution ceremony
was held and certificates were distributed among the participants, organizers
and a shield was presented to master trainer.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim, Provost, AWKUM, Delivered a Talk at Department of Physics
Prof.
Dr. Muhammad Qasim, Provost and
Chairman Department of Environmental Sciences, delivered a talk on Our
Home: Now and Then ... a Challenge for Resilience and Sustainable Development in
the Department of Physics, AWKUM. In his talk, he spoke
about the importance of forest and water and the overall environmental issues
and challenges in the globe and Pakistan. The seminar was attended by faculty
members of multidisciplinary fields, graduate scholars and under graduate
students. After the talk, an interactive session of the speaker with the
students was conducted. Finally, Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Khan, Chairman Department
of Physics and Dean Faculty of Physical and Numerical Sciences, AWKUM, launched
a green program called “Donate a Tree”.
He donated 80 Trees to the Garden Campus under the green program and encouraged
all the participants to contribute to it.

Re-Tender Notice For Examination Stationery

Dengue Control and Its Awareness, A Seminar In The Department of Zoology, AWKUM
Assistant
Professor Dr. Abid Ali (Molecular
Parasitologist) and Assistant Professor Dr. Khurshaid Khan (Medical Entomologist), in the
Department of Zoology, AWKUM arranged a seminar (24 April, 2017) on dengue control and its awareness in the
Department of Zoology, University College of Science Shankar, AWKUM.
Assistant Professor Dr.
Gauher Rehman, Department of Zoology, Mr. Waqas Shams, demonstrator, students
of Bio-chemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science and Zoology Departments
participated. Dr. Khurshaid Khan delivered a comprehensive lecture on dengue,
its worldwide distribution, epidemics of this viral infection in Pakistan, life
cycle of Aedes mosquitoes and their
habit and habitats. He also discussed the control of Aedes mosquitoes and the
awareness of dengue. Dr. Khan stated that dengue is an urban disease and
usually associated to human habitation. Human play a key role in its spreading.
The seasonality of the Aedes species and dengue was also discussed by him.
Dr.
Abid Ali, discussed the molecular and genetic control of Aedes mosquitoes. He
elaborated the importance of gene
expression in the control of dengue infection and the Aedes mosquitoes.
Both
the Assistant Professors given the answers of different questions of students
related to the dengue and its vectors.
